While certainly a rustic stay, it was a beautiful house and really nice room. The owner is very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. A nice change from the "city life". The breakfast was one of the best during the whole trip & being welcomed by the sweet dog was just an added bonus, though be aware that he seemed to like hiding under cars. Not a good thing when trying to drive away.

From the dog's friendly greeting to the congenial host's breakfast this stop was a winner. The lovely farm setting of this gorgeous family home made the perfect stop on our last night before driving to the Dublin airport and home.

From Frommers Guide to Ireland

Moate Lodge is a solid, comforting 18th-century Georgian farmhouse full of original features. Bedrooms are done up in a charming jumble of mismatched but good old furniture, family portraits, old books, and pretty fabrics. Moate is a working farm, so expect to catch glimpses of cows going about their business, or hear the cluck of hens in passing; but that only adds to the drowsy serenity. Breakfast is included in the price, but its dinner (book before noon) that really showcases host Mary Pelin's cooking ability - I'm a particular fan of her desserts; excellent hearty pies and crumbles made with fruit from the garden.
